Karla Camila Cabello-Estrebao

The artist I chose to write about is Karla Camila Cabello-Estrabao, better known as Camila Cabello. Camila Cabello was born on March 3, 1997 in Havana, Cuba. She got the American citizenship in 2008. At first, she moved just with her mother to the USA, her father came later. It was really difficult, because her mother’s degree was not accepted in the new country.

She attended Miami Palmetto High School but she left in the 2012–2013 school year, while she was in 9th grade, to pursue her singing career (she later earned her high school diploma). That’s when she auditioned for the X-Factor (first, as a solo singer) and later joined the girl group Fifth Harmony. Cabello and her band-mates released one EP and two studio albums. Her departure from the group was announced on December 18th, 2016.

 In 2017, Cabello prepared the release of her debut solo album. Cabello received some nominations/awards and she became an official Guess girl and was the face of their 2017 Fall campaign. Camila released her hit single 'Havana' on August 3, 2017 as a gift to her fans.  'Havana" became #1 on the official worldwide charts, thus, making a name for herself and only for herself, also giving Camila the record of holding the #1 position the longest for a female artist in 2017. In just 11 months of a solo career, Camila won a total of 18 awards, became a multi-platinum artist with over 50 certifications, sold over 17 million units and gained over 4 billion combining YouTube and Spotify streams all without an album out. Camila Cabello's debut album called 'Camila' was released on January 12th, 2018 racking up a score of 76 on Metacritic and over 100 #1's. 'Camila' debuted at #1 on Billboard 200.

I got to know her when she was in Fifth Harmony and she inspires me everyday. Her songs are full of feelings, at times they even make me cry. Her childhood was not easy, that’s why she is so close to her mother, Sinuhe Cabello, her father, Alejandro Cabello, and her little sister, Sofia Cabello.

Camila is so cute and silly that it makes me love her. She knows how it is like to be a fan, how it is like to love your idol, because she was a big fan of One Direction and Demi Lovato. On her audition for the X-factor, she confessed that she owned an One Direction fanpage. Now, she is too busy working, but she is fulfilled with her fans' love.

By the way, I’m looking forward to going to her concert in Curitiba in October. I can barely wait to be close to her.
