Chester Bennington

Chester Bennington was born on March 20, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona, the USA, he had three brothers. In 1983 he suffered for the first time in his life, a friend abused him sexually, he suffered a lot with bullying in high school because he was strange and very skinny for a teenager, but in high school he had his first singing class. His parents divorced in 1987, Chester suffered a lot, because he started living with his father.
            Chester suffered with depression, and despite of this, he listened to music bands like Depeche Mode, Stone Temple Pilots… and wrote songs. In 1996, he worked in a fast food chain to pay his bills and he started his first band called Grey Daze, this band broke up in 1998. In 1999, he received a call from California, Los Angeles to do a test for a band called Xero, this band mixes Hip Hop and Metal Rock. When the members of Xiro listened to Chester’s voice for the first time, they didn't have a doubt, Chester would be in the band. The band changed its name for Hybrid Theory and started recording the first songs with Chester in 1999. Chester didn't have a house, so he slept in the studio or in his car.
In 2000, Hybrid Theory changed its name for Linkin Park to pay homaje to Lincoln Park. Linkin Park recorded its first album Hybrid Theory to pay homaje to the old name of the band in 2000. The album sold 30 million copies and made Chester and Linkin Park really famous. In this album, there are famous songs, such as Crawling, In the end, One step Closer, A place for My Head. In 2003, Linkin Park recorded Meteora, its second album, and it confirmed Chester Bennington as a really great singer. This second album was really important for Chester because after this, he had a depression crisis and stopped singing. After a lot of therapy, he left the group for the first time in 2005. He came back to Linkin Park in 2007 with the album Minutes to Midnight. This album shows for the fans the depression and the hard moments, especially in the music Shadow of the Day. In 2009, Linkin Park released New Device, the Music from the movie Transformers.
Chester was an actor too. He acted in 2009 on Rush 2, and in 2010 on Saw the end. Chester had 6 children and married twice, Bennington had a child, Jaime (born on May 12, 1996) from his relationship with Elka Brand. In 2006, he adopted Brand's other son, Isaiah (born on November 8, 1997). He married his first wife, Samantha Marie Olit, on October 31, 1996. They had one child together, Draven Sebastian (born on April 19, 2002). Bennington's relationship with his first wife declined during his early years with Linkin Park, and they divorced in 2005. In 2006, he married Talinda Ann Bentley, a former Playboy model with whom he had three children: Tyler Lee Bennington (born on March 16, 2006) and the twins Lilly and Lila (born on November 6, 2011).
In 2014, the magazine KERRANG elected Linkin Park the best rock group of the moment, In 2017, Linkin Park and Chester recorded their last album One More Light, an album not only about depression, but a lot of songs in this album talk about it in songs like, One more Light, Heavy.
On July 20, 2017, Chester committed suicide in his house because of depression. Chester talked about depression his whole life and fought against it. It was really hard for everybody: for fans, for the band, for the family, for music to lose Chester. Depression is not a joke, it is a really serious condition, so if you have depressive feelings, you are not alone, call and ask for help.
