She found love
She is wearing her favorite dress. It’s a special occasion. She has been locked inside her own mind for too long. Wondering if she is good enough for too long. Judging herself for too long. Running away for too long. But not anymore. This is a special occasion, indeed. I can feel it in the air. What is it? Love? Yes, she is in love. Oh my God, she finally found love! She has been trying to find it for a really long time, did you know? I remember when she was just a little kid. All those Disney movies, princesses and princes. Queens and kings. Even the ugly frog found real love!
The girl is wearing no makeup. She is staring at her own reflection on the mirror. She used to hate it, but not anymore. Now she can finally smile at herself. She is not her enemy anymore. She looks at her dress. I can’t help being proud of her. She has avoided dresses since I know her. They make her feel uncomfortable, weird. But now she is smiling again, and I can tell that she likes what she sees. Yes, she finally became a butterfly.
Our lady is now driving to the club. A year ago, she would never go to a place like that. Too many people, too much noise. Such a perfect place to her anxiety. Now, she is driving peacefully, singing along to the radio. She seems so different. Love has changed her. On a good way, of course. No more crying every single night, no more cuts on her wrists. She still has scars, but they don’t make her feel bad. They remind her that she lost some battles, but she won the war. She is a warrior.
Pretty girl arrived to the club. She is looking around, searching for her friends. There they are. She gets closer, every step is a fear she left behind. They are happy to see her. She feels happy, too. She is dancing. She is not used to it, but she is doing well. Every move is breaking a handcuff that used to keep her away from happiness. She will remember this night. The night she got free. The night her dreams were finally bigger than her fears.
She went to the bathroom. She couldn’t avoid a big smile on her face. There she was. That pretty girl. The one who taught her how to love. The girl smiled at her as well. They both have the same kindness on her eyes. Our girl got closer and closer. She was just there, staring at the love of her life. A love bigger than any Disney movie. A love deeper than any cut. She is so glad she found love.
The girl stared for some seconds. Her smile got bigger. She sighed. Then she looked away and left the bathroom. Love is always with her. She can feel it anytime. And she can see it on any mirror.
She found herself. She found love. She found self-love.
